With barely 27 months to the 2027 general elections in the country, the independent national electoral commission (lNEC) has announced plans to resume nationwide continuous voters registration (CVR) in the first quarter of next year.

According to source close to lNEC headquarters abuja, the CVR will Initially take off from the local government area level before expanding to registration areas (RAs).

The source further stated that the necessary steps for readiness includes an assessment of the status of INEC Voter Enrolment Devices (WED) printers and CRV forms and materials.

" The commission is considering commencing the exercise at LGA level and later devolving to registration area ( IRA) level" the source added

INEC also directed its state offices to identify and select staff to serve as voter registration officials as well as prepare information on uncollected permanent voters cards (PVCs) to facilitate the display of the register of uncollected PVCs during the exercise.

The nationwide CVR exercise has been suspended since July 2022 ahead of the general elections but the exercise has continues in states with off - circle elections.
