Group advocates nutritional policies, practices

Benin, Edo - The Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), Edo State Chapter, has advocated the need for improved Nutrition policies and practices to contribute to a healthier nation.
The advocacy call was in the commemoration of this year's 2025 World Health Day.
This year’s theme according to World Health Organization (WHO) is "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures".
The focus according to State Public Relations Officer (NSN), Peter Dania is on improving Maternal, New-born and Child Health and Nutrition as well as ending preventable deaths of women, infants and children.
As part of the celebration, the Edo State Chapter of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, collaborated with Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to organize a series of Community outreach programmes, Health and Nutrition Education Campaigns, Symposia, Radio/Television Talkshows, etc.
These initiatives were aimed at raising awareness about the impact of proper Nutrition on Maternal, New-born and Child Health as well as the overall Public Health of our people.
The event which bring together experts in the fields of Nutrition, Dietetics, Healthcare and Public Policy to discuss the pressing issue of creating more access to Nutrition Services in our Health System, Institutions and Health Facilities for the population was attended by wide range of participants cut across major professionals in the state.
Women, Schools, Healthcare Institutions, and the general public actively participated in all the scheduled activities of the Day.
According to Dania, the society remains dedicated and committed to improved Nutrition policies and practices that contribute to a healthier nation.
The World Health Nutrition Day is celebrated every year on the 7th of April.
