PHOTO Education Ondo Education Commissioner, stakeholders meet over school fees

Akure, Ondo – The Ondo State Commissioner for Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun has held his inaugural meeting with education stakeholders to discuss school fees for the upcoming academic session.

During the meeting, Professor Ajibefun emphasised the significant role of the education sector in the state and called for a collaborative effort among stakeholders to advance education in the state.

He stated that his primary focus would be on implementing reforms to elevate the standard of education.

Recognising the current economic climate, the commissioner urged stakeholders to keep any fee increasement for the next session to a minimum, aiming to alleviate financial burden on parents.

Dr. Akindele Ige, the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, congratulated Professor Ajibefun on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to improve the sector.

Dr. Ige clarified that the meeting was an annual event designed for stakeholders to collectively decide on payable fees.

He also commended the stakeholders’ efforts and sought their continued support for the Commissioner.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on a specific amount, which will subsequently be communicated to all public schools in state.

Attendees at the meeting included, all directors within the ministry ,representatives from the State Universal Basic Education Board, Nigerian Union of Teachers(NUT), Parents Teacher Association (PTA), National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools , Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), and Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS)
