Benin, Edo – The WhatsApp account of Comrade Philip Shaibu, immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State and current Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), has been compromised.

‎Journalist, Ben Ogbemudia had revealed this in a post on social media Monday night, warning authorities and the public to disregard any messages received from the Shaibu's WhatsApp number, as they are not from him.

‎"Please disregard any messages received from immediate past Deputy Governor and DG-NIS, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu's WhatsApp number as his account has been compromised. Any messages sent are not from him. We appreciate your understanding and caution.", the post read

‎This incident follows a previous case of digital misrepresentation involving Shaibu, where he publicly dismissed a doctored video falsely portraying him criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.
