Enugu – Tracka, a civil tech platform that tracks the implementation of government projects has called on the Federal Ministry of Works, to provide detailed updates on the construction of the Nsukka-Obollo-Afor-Ehamafu-Nkalagu road in Enugu State.
The Federal Government allocated N123 million in the 2024 budget for the construction of the road, a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and economic activity in the region.
However, recent tracking of the project reveals that while progress has been made, significant aspects of the project remain incomplete.
According to Tracka in a post on X, grading work has been completed along the entire stretch from Nsukka to Nkalagu.
However, essential components such as asphalting and drainage construction are yet to commence, raising concerns about the project’s timeline and overall quality.
The road is expected to enhance transportation, boost local commerce, and improve access to key communities in Enugu State.
Delays in asphalting and drainage work could hinder these benefits, particularly during the rainy season when poor drainage could exacerbate road deterioration.
The civic group and local residents have vowed to continue monitoring the project to ensure accountability and quality delivery.
The Federal Ministry of Works has yet to respond to the call for updates, but public pressure continues to mount for swift action to complete this critical infrastructure project.
