Benin, Edo – ‎In a significant move to improve sanitation and living conditions, the Edo State Government, through the Edo State Development and Property Corporation (EDPDC), has officially commissioned new public toilets for residents of the Federal Housing Authority Shopping Complex (FHA) and Oregbeni buffer zone in Benin City.

‎The Managing Director of the Corporation, Barrister Osarenren Folarin Okogbuwa, who addressed residents and Community members at the event, highlighted the State Government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and providing essential amenities to its citizens.

‎Barr. Okungbowa noted that the new facilities were built to address the long-standing problem of inadequate sanitation and to provide residents with easy access to proper toilet facilities.

‎According to the MD, "the Edo State Governor, has magnanimously seen the need for you, the people, to have your public toilet hence the construction of the FHA Housing Shopping Complex toilet for all of you in this buffer zone and complex".

‎He acknowledged the difficulties residents have faced in the past, including having to travel long distances to access water and toilet facilities.

‎The new facilities, according to him, are a testament to the State Government's dedication to improving the welfare of its people. The project also includes a borehole to ensure a continuous supply of water, further easing the burden on residents.

‎Barrister Okogbuwa appealed to the Community to take ownership of the new facilities and ensure their proper maintenance. Adding that, "When you maintain it, it gives us, the government, the motivation to do more, the Government is not happy when it provides these things and they are not well-maintained."

‎The Managing Director pointed out that the facility is divided into sections, with a dedicated area for females, another for males and a separate urinal.
