Asaba, Delta – In a significant step toward bolstering healthcare delivery in Delta State, the Governor, on Tuesday, hosted a delegation from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State branch, led by its Chairman, Dr. Israel Adaigho, at Government House, Asaba.

The courtesy visit focused on strengthening partnerships to improve service delivery, address manpower shortages, provide housing for medical officers, and expand medical outreaches across the state.

During the deliberations, the Governor lauded the NMA members for their patriotism and unwavering commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of Deltans, particularly for resisting the prevalent “Japa syndrome”—a term describing the emigration of Nigerian professionals seeking opportunities abroad.

“I commend the team for their dedication to staying and serving our people despite the allure of opportunities elsewhere,” the Governor stated, highlighting their resolve as a cornerstone of the state’s healthcare system.

Emphasizing his administration’s commitment to healthcare, the Governor assured the NMA of ongoing efforts to equip hospitals and health centers with state-of-the-art facilities and to create a conducive working environment for medical professionals.
