Benin, Edo – The Edo State Ministry of Education has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state are scheduled to resume for the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, September 8, 2025.
The directive, issued in a public special announcement, was signed by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Ebomoyi Edith on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu.
According to the announcement, academic activities are expected to commence immediately on the first day of resumption.
The Ministry has urged parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards return to school promptly to avoid penalties, emphasizing the importance of strict compliance with the resumption date.
To enforce adherence, the Ministry will deploy its Back-To-School Task Team to monitor schools and ensure no school-aged children are found loitering during school hours.
Authorized Education Officers will also be stationed across the state to verify compliance in both public and private institutions.
The Ministry has warned that noncompliance with the directive will attract severe penalties in line with the state’s education laws.
This measure underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring a smooth start to the academic year.
Parents, guardians, and school administrators are advised to take note of the resumption date and prepare accordingly to avoid sanctions.
The Edo State Ministry of Education remains dedicated to fostering an enabling environment for quality education across the state.
