Delta police command records major breakthrough against crime

Asaba, Delta – The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda, has achieved significant success in its ongoing battle against crime and criminality.
In three separate operations conducted by the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) and Safe Delta operatives, suspected cultists and armed robbers were apprehended, with firearms and ammunition recovered.
This was according to a statement on Friday by SP Edafe Bright, the Police Public Relations Officer.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding cult activities in Ibusa Town, operatives of the CP-SAT arrested 29-year-old Oluwatobi Olugbemi, a native of Ikenne-Remo in Ijebu-Ode LGA, Ogun State, residing at Ogboli quarters, Ibusa.
Following the execution of a search warrant at his residence, a Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition was recovered.
The suspect confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Arrow Barger.”
Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
In a separate operation, Safe Delta operatives, while on surveillance patrol along DBS Road, Asaba, intervened in a public altercation involving a group of individuals. One suspect, 23-year-old Raphael Chukwuemeka, was arrested in possession of a cut-to-size double-barrel pistol loaded with seven live cartridges.
He was immediately taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing.
In another development, Safe Delta operatives conducting a stop-and-search operation at Head Bridge, Asaba, intercepted three young men: Solomon Offor (22), Ifesinachi Nwankeze (19), and Ambrose Ugwuba (23). A search of the suspects and their motorcycle revealed a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, cartridges, and a dagger concealed in a bag.
All three suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
The Delta State Police Command, through these operations, has reaffirmed its dedication to curbing crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
