PHOTO Education 'We're raising job creators, not job seekers', Chancellor declares as varsity celebrates maiden matriculation event in Edo

Evbuobanosa, Edo – The serene community of Evbuobanosa, near Benin City, came alive with excitement as Lighthouse University, the only apex institution in the locality, held its inaugural matriculation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in its journey.

The event, held at the university’s permanent campus along the Benin-Asaba Expressway, was a vibrant celebration attended by distinguished personalities, faculty, students, and proud parents.The ceremony, steeped in pomp and pageantry, saw the Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, express profound gratitude to God for the realization of a vision birthed in faith and nurtured through dedication.

Describing the institution as a “citadel of balanced education,” Rev. Omobude highlighted the university’s commitment to integrating academic excellence with spiritual and moral guidance.

He urged parents to enroll their children to benefit from the institution’s serene learning environment, dedicated faculty, and focus on holistic student development.

In his address, the Chancellor emphasized the university’s mission to produce self-reliant graduates equipped with entrepreneurial and innovative skills.

“We are raising job creators, not mere job seekers,” he declared, encouraging the matriculating students to seize the opportunities provided to excel academically and personally.

He underscored the university’s vision, established in February 2024, to provide technological and management solutions to societal challenges while fostering moral and spiritual growth.

Quoting Matthew 5:14, he inspired the students to be “lights” in a world often plagued by corruption and mediocrity.

Rev. Omobude also advised the students to adhere to the university’s rules, noting that these guidelines are designed to refine them into global citizens and change agents.

“Pursue your academic journey with diligence, integrity, and God’s guidance,” he urged, assuring them that their time at Lighthouse University would shape not only their careers but their destinies.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Justice Roland Amaize, congratulated the pioneer students, urging them to be exemplary ambassadors of the institution.

Similarly, Vice Chancellor Prof. Osarenkhoe Osemwegie commended parents for entrusting their wards to the university, promising that the dedicated staff would provide top-tier education, spiritual values, life skills, and leadership training to mold the students’ futures.

The ceremony’s highlight was the signing of the matriculation register by the pioneer students, symbolizing their official entry into the university community.

Lighthouse University, accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), offers a range of programs, including B.Sc. in Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Mass Communication, Microbiology, Political Science, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology and Security Studies, International Relations and Diplomacy, Computer Engineering, and Business Administration.

Admissions for these programs are still ongoing, inviting prospective students to join this burgeoning institution.

The event marked a new chapter for Evbuobanosa and Edo State, as Lighthouse University positions itself as a beacon of academic excellence, moral integrity, and societal impact.
