Igbokoda, Ondo – Comrade Emmanuel Seyi Lebile, a former Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) House of Assembly candidate for Ilaje Constituency II, has called on residents of Ondo State, particularly those in Ilaje Local Government Area, to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‎The appeal targets eligible voters to ensure they are registered ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

‎In a chat with this online newspaper on Saturday, Lebile, popularly known as "The Reformer," stressed the importance of voter registration as a cornerstone of democratic participation.

‎“The people of Ilaje and Ondo State must seize this opportunity to secure their voter’s card. It is the key to choosing leaders who will bring development to our communities,” he said

‎The CVR, which began on August 18, 2025, allows new voters to register, existing voters to update or transfer their registration, and those with lost or damaged voter cards to obtain replacements.

‎INEC has set up 210 registration centers across Ondo State, including in Ilaje, but challenges such as limited centers in riverine areas and technical issues with registration equipment have been reported.

‎Lebile urged INEC to address these barriers to ensure inclusivity.

‎“Our people in remote communities deserve access to this process. INEC must bring registration closer to them,” he noted.

‎Lebile, who contested the 2019 House of Assembly election, highlighted the need for increased voter turnout in Ilaje, a region known for its significant electoral influence.

‎“Your voter’s card is your voice. Without it, you cannot demand the change we need in Ilaje. Let’s register and vote for progress,” he urged.

‎INEC has advised residents to visit registration centers between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, or use the online locator tool on its website (www.inec.gov.ng) (www.inec.gov.ng) to find nearby centers.

‎Residents can also text their state, local government, and ward details to 09136913660 for assistance.

‎As the registration window progresses, Lebile’s call underscores the urgency for Ilaje’s eligible voters to participate in shaping the region’s future.

‎With local elections approaching, the former candidate’s message serves as a rallying cry for civic engagement in Ondo State.
