Abudu, Edo – In a resounding vote of confidence, Ayemere Charles, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Orhionmwon Local Government Area (LGA), has thrown his weight behind the newly sworn-in Chairman of the council, Hon. Thompson Osagie.
Speaking exclusively to Daily South Nigeria on the heels of Osagie's inauguration, Charles described the new leader as a beacon of hope for Orhionmwon LGA.
"We warmly welcome Hon. Osagie to the helm of affairs in Orhionmwon.
"His visionary leadership is poised to usher in the true dividends of democracy—tangible improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment that will directly touch the lives of our people at the community level.", Ayemere said in a telephone interview
Orhionmwon, often dubbed the "Food Basket of Edo State" due to its vast agricultural potential and significant oil and gas resources, has long been a political powerhouse in Edo South Senatorial District.
Headquartered in Abudu, the area spans over 2,382 square kilometers and serves as home to key institutions like the Edo State College of Education and Lighthouse University.
However, residents have historically grappled with challenges such as lack of electricity, poor road networks, and limited access to basic amenities—a narrative that Osagie's administration now inherits amid high expectations.
