Benin, Edo – The Edo Parole Board convened at the Benin Custodial Centre last Friday to discuss parole eligibility for select inmates, emphasizing rehabilitation and societal reintegration.

Chaired by Hon. Justice Alero Edodo-Eruaga, the meeting highlighted the critical role of family and community support in ensuring successful outcomes for parolees.

Four families attended the session, pledging emotional and financial support for their incarcerated relatives if granted parole.

Justice Edodo-Eruaga stressed that such backing is vital for inmates’ reintegration, helping them rebuild stable lives post-release.

The board clarified in accessible language that parolees who reoffend would resume serving their original sentences from the point of violation.

The board also outlined its rigorous process, noting that a risk assessment would be conducted for each inmate to ensure parole decisions prioritize public safety while offering second chances.

This approach underscores the board’s commitment to balancing humane treatment with community welfare.

The Edo Parole Board’s ongoing efforts reflect a dedication to informed, compassionate decision-making.

Hearing continues on evaluation of cases to support both inmates and society at large.
