Ile-Ife, Osun – In a significant development for the residents of Irebami, a community in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, a newly constructed 2-kilometer access road has been completed and is now in use.
The project, funded with N75 million from the 2024 Federal Government of Nigeria budget, was tracked and reported by TrackaNG, a citizen-led initiative monitoring public projects.
The road, spanning Irebami Line 4, 6, off Fajuyi Road, includes drainage systems on both sides, addressing long-standing issues of flooding and poor accessibility in the area.
Local residents have expressed relief at the completion of the road, which is expected to boost economic activities and improve transportation in the area.
The project, part of the broader 2024 budget aimed at infrastructure development, was executed under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
This development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of public spending, with past reports highlighting concerns over duplicated projects and vague budget allocations for similar initiatives in the region.
However, TrackaNG’s verification indicates that this particular project has been successfully delivered, aligning with the Federal Government’s 2025 Budget of Restoration theme, which emphasizes infrastructure development and economic renewal.
Meanwhile, N20m was allocated to the Construction of Boreholes for Indigent Communities in Ile- Ife East LGA, Osun State in the 2024 Budget, but the project has not started.
Residents at Igboya community told Tracka that no borehole has been constructed in the constituency.
Tracka however called on Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority, the implementing agency, to provide the public with details of this project and facilitate its execution.
