Amangwu Edda, Ebonyi – A newly constructed two-classroom block in Amangwu Edda, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, stands completed but remains unused as of today, according to a recent update from Tracka, a citizen-led monitoring organization.
The project, funded with N25 million from the 2024 Federal Government Budget, was intended to enhance educational infrastructure in the region.
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) served as the client, with Success Boat Global Ltd as the contractor, overseen by Hon. Igariwey Iduma Enwo, the Member representing Ebonyi South in the Federal House of Representatives.
The construction, which includes roofing and painting, was completed, but the facility remains locked, with students yet to resume classes at the time of Tracka’s visit.
However, the absence of students and the locked state of the classrooms raise questions about the timeline for operationalization.
Tracka has pledged to continue monitoring the project to ensure it is put to effective use, reflecting growing public interest in the accountability of government-funded initiatives.
This development comes amid broader concerns about the state of educational infrastructure in Ebonyi State, where some schools face collapsing buildings and dire learning conditions.
