Abeokuta, Ogun – The Ogun State Government has announced a series of town hall meetings across the state’s four divisions, offering residents a unique opportunity to directly influence the 2026 budget by voicing their community’s needs.
The initiative, detailed in a post on X by @Letter_to_Jack on Saturday, underscores the government’s commitment to participatory governance.
The meetings will allow citizens to engage directly with Governor Dapo Abiodun and members of his cabinet, bypassing intermediaries such as legislators or local government chairs. Residents are encouraged to highlight priorities such as roads, schools, hospitals, jobs, electricity, water, or other critical infrastructure to improve their lives.
The scheduled town hall meetings are as follows:
Day 1 – Ijebu Division: Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Bisrod Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, 11:00 AM.
Day 2 – Remo Division: Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Akarigbo Palace Hall, Sagamu, 11:00 AM.
Day 3 – Yewa Division: Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Frontier Hotel, Ilaro, 11:00 AM.
Day 4 – Egba Division: Thursday, October 23, 2025, at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, 11:00 AM.
This move aligns with a growing trend of participatory budgeting, as seen in recent town hall efforts in states like Sokoto, where officials have promised transparency and tangible outcomes.
In Ogun, the government aims to ensure that the 2026 fiscal plan reflects the genuine needs of its people, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability.
Residents are urged to attend these meetings and actively participate, marking a significant step toward inclusive development in Ogun State.
