In a emotional public appeal that has stirred national pride and support, a Nigerian Army veteran @jassjegs has reached out to the Commander-in-Chief (CinC), apparently President Bola Tinubu for a housing unit under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Estate Programme.

‎The plea, posted on X Monday, highlights the sacrifices of veterans like him and calls for recognition through the provision of affordable homes, a cause that resonates deeply with many Nigerians.

‎The post, quoting an earlier announcement by Nigeria Stories (@NigeriaStories) featuring an aerial view of the newly developed housing estate, reads:

‎"Dear CinC sir !!! With all due respect and sacrifice to our dear nation. I have pleaded before and I will still plead again. I need one sir. Thanks for the acknowledgement "  @Jassjegs, a veteran who served during one of Nigeria’s conflicts—potentially military engagements against terrorism—embodies the resilience of the nation’s armed forces.

‎His appeal comes amid growing recognition of veterans’ contributions, as evidenced by the Nigerian Army’s recent initiative to provide 400 housing units, including 20 gifted to wounded-in-action soldiers, as part of the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOS) scheme.

‎Daily South Nigeria understands that this program aims to address the housing challenges faced by military personnel post-service.

‎The Renewed Hope Housing Estate Programme, with uniform sale prices set at ₦8.5 million for a one-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, ₦11.5 million for a two-bedroom unit, and ₦12.5 million for a three-bedroom unit, is part of a broader government effort to provide affordable housing.

‎@jassjegs’ plea underscores a pressing need to extend such benefits to deserving veterans beyond active-duty soldiers, especially those who have sacrificed their well-being for the nation.

‎However, the viral nature of @jassjegs’ appeal has amplified calls for the Renewed Hope initiative to include veterans in its beneficiary pool, echoing the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa’s encouragement for all armed forces services to support housing projects.
