Awka, Anambra – In a bid to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria's electoral process, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has delivered a strong caution to corps members deployed as ad-hoc staff for the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election on November 8, 2025.
The directive emphasizes strict political neutrality, discipline, and professionalism from all participants.
The warning came during a high-profile sensitization programme held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at St. John of God Secondary School in Awka. Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, the Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, addressed corps members from Awka South, Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Awka North Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Representatives from key partner agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Department of State Services (DSS), were also present.
Mrs. Ojisua underscored the NYSC-INEC partnership, built on trust and integrity, urging corps members to serve as impartial ambassadors of the scheme.
"Avoid political discussions, inducements, or any action that could compromise your neutrality," she warned, adding that accepting gifts or gratification from politicians would betray public trust and invite severe sanctions from both NYSC and INEC.
Prioritizing corps members' well-being, the coordinator stressed personal safety measures:Avoid unnecessary movements and report threats immediately.
Move in teams and never handle materials without escorts.
Do not argue or resist violence—contact supervisors or security first.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INEC, corps members are assured of welfare packages, logistics, insurance, and protection.
Mrs. Ojisua concluded: "Your safety comes first, your neutrality is sacred, and your integrity is non-negotiable."
