Izizi, Ebonyi – In a heartfelt appeal to Governor Francis Nwifuru, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, and Hon. Barr Emenike Steve, @TrackaNG, a prominent non-governmental organization, has sounded the alarm over the dire condition of the Izenyi Agbaja Community School in Izzi Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State.

The school, which serves as the sole government-owned primary institution in the community, has been in a state of disrepair for the past five years, with over 400 pupils enduring learning conditions that are both hazardous and inadequate.

@TrackaNG in a post on X Saturday, details the distressing state of the school, where children are forced to sit on bare, dusty floors and blocks amidst walls that are on the verge of collapse. The building, which began showing signs of structural failure over five years ago, partially collapsed during a school session, resulting in injuries to several pupils.

Despite these alarming incidents, no significant improvements have been made to address the safety and functionality of the school.

@TrackaNG highlighted the lack of learning materials and amenities, stating that the current environment makes education "almost impossible."

The organization recounted that the community had previously lodged complaints with Governor Nwifuru, who reportedly promised to construct 22 classrooms in the community this year. However, as of the latest update, no progress has been made on this commitment.

"We implore your office and the Ebonyi State Government to facilitate the complete overhaul of the classrooms in the school," Tracka urged, stating, "The children of Izenyi Agbaja deserve quality education, and it should be prioritized now."

This appeal comes at a critical time, as recent reports have identified Izzi LGA as having the highest number of out-of-school children in the South East region, placing additional pressure on the state to address educational infrastructure.
