In a significant development regarding Nigeria’s health sector transparency, the civic organization Tracka has praised the Federal Ministry of Health for its prompt response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request concerning the allocation of the recently disbursed N32.9 billion Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).

The update comes as part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability in the utilization of public funds under the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

On Sunday morning, Tracka, a renowned advocate for public accountability, posted on X acknowledging the Ministry’s swift action.

In a letter dated October 23, 2025, Tracka had requested detailed breakdowns of the N32.9 billion third-round disbursement, announced earlier in the week by Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, in what he termed "The Red Letter." The fund, aimed at strengthening primary healthcare facilities across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, has sparked widespread public interest and scrutiny.

In their X post, Tracka expressed gratitude for Professor Pate’s directive to relevant officers to provide a comprehensive response, noting that the request was received and acted upon by the Ministry on the evening of October 23.

“We appreciate your commitment to transparency and accountability,” Tracka stated, addressing the Minister directly.

The organization also assured the public that it would await the full breakdown from the Ministry’s secretariat to engage constructively with the data.
