Soludo declares work-free day ahead of Governorship Poll

Awka, Anambra – In a move aimed at ensuring maximum voter participation and a smooth electoral process, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has officially declared Friday, November 7, 2025, a public holiday for all civil and public servants across the state.
The announcement comes less than 48 hours to the highly anticipated off-cycle governorship election on Saturday, November 8, 2025, where Soludo is seeking re-election under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The declaration, which exempts workers from official duties to allow them time for personal preparations and travel to their polling units, underscores the administration's commitment to a hitch-free poll.
"This is to enable our people, especially those in the civil service, to fully engage in the democratic process without the burden of work obligations," a statement from the Governor's Office read.
Schools, banks, and other essential services are expected to operate normally, though the focus remains on encouraging widespread turnout amid concerns over voter apathy in previous elections.
