Benin, Edo – In a pointed message thrusting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State into fresh controversy, civic base platform @monitng has accused the party of fostering "blind loyalty without critical thought".

‎The message, posted on X Tuesday, dissects a purported viral video by APC State Chairman Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, where he allegedly brands party members as "zombies" – mindless followers lacking sense, vision, or dignity.

‎"We just watched the viral video of Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, and it’s both shocking and revealing," the message address to Governor Monday Okpebholo (@m_akpakomiza) begins, framing Tenebe's remarks as a damning self-indictment of the APC's "lost direction, purpose, and connection to the people they claim to represent."

‎It escalates by mocking the party's evolution from a "change and progress" movement to one boasting inflated voter tallies – from "2.5 million impossible votes" to a newly claimed "3.5 million" – calling it a "fantasy" of "the zombie way."

‎@MonITNG, concludes with a rallying cry: "Zombie way na one way, but Edo people must never go that way."

‎The post urges Edo's residents to demand "leaders with integrity, foresight, and respect for truth" ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that "democracy thrives where citizens think, question, and act – not where they follow blindly."

‎The post arrives amid a turbulent year for Tenebe, the APC's acting chairman since mid-2024, whose tenure has been marked by a string of provocative videos and public spats. While the specific "zombies" clip remains unverified in recent searches, it echoes Tenebe's pattern of fiery, internal critiques.

‎In October 2023, as deputy chairman, he mocked Edo North APC aspirants in a viral recording, drawing rebukes from party insiders who accused him of "destroying the ladder that assisted you to climb."

‎More recently, in December 2024, Tenebe defended Governor Okpebholo's budget presentation gaffe by telling critics to "go to hell and burn to ashes," a retort that amplified national mockery.

‎Tenebe's rhetoric has spilled beyond party lines. In July 2025, he declared "hate" for Labour Party's Peter Obi, barring him from Edo without permission and linking visits to deaths – statements that sparked outrage and calls for APC accountability.

‎Earlier, in January 2025, he led a controversial invasion of the PDP secretariat in Benin City, deploying thugs backed by police, which the opposition decried as "executive recklessness."
