Owerri, Imo – In a ceremonial display of recognition and resolve, the Nigerian Army elevated 315 dedicated soldiers to higher ranks during a promotion exercise held on Monday at the 34 Artillery Brigade parade ground in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

The event, presided over by Brigadier General Ibrahim Mu’azu Abbas, underscores the military's commitment to rewarding excellence while bolstering operational strength in a region plagued by security challenges.

Brig Gen Abbas, who also serves as the Land Component Commander of Operation UDOKA, delivered a stirring address to the newly promoted personnel. He urged them to embrace their elevated status with unwavering focus and loyalty, reminding them that "higher ranks demand greater responsibilities."

Abbas highlighted the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu NAM, praising his dedication to honoring "hard work, discipline, and professionalism."

"Your promotion today is part of the COAS mandate to strengthen our operational readiness," Abbas declared.

According to him, "I expect you to justify this confidence."

He further called on the troops to redouble their efforts in advancing the 82 Division's mission to restore and maintain peace across Nigeria's Southeast.

"Your new ranks should motivate higher levels of discipline, loyalty, and operational efficiency in ongoing operations under Operation UDOKA," he added.

The promotions are more than a personal milestone; they represent a calculated enhancement to the brigade's capabilities.
