Benin, Edo – The Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs (EDSCIA) has praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for “deliberate efforts at promoting inclusiveness and equitable representation” through the appointment of qualified Muslims into key government positions, marking the administration’s first year in office.
In a statement issued Monday by Chairman Alhaji Nosakhare Abdulazeez Igbinidu, the council described the governor’s actions as a “clear demonstration of fairness” that has restored confidence and a sense of belonging among the Muslim community.
“Within just one year, His Excellency has appointed capable Muslims to strategic roles, breaking barriers and fostering unity across faith lines,” Igbinidu said.
“This is inclusive governance in action.”, he added
The council highlighted the appointments as a cornerstone of Okpebholo’s leadership style marked by humility, accessibility, and impartiality regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
Beyond representation, EDSCIA commended the administration’s support for interfaith dialogue, infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, education, and security coordination.
It noted that partnerships with faith-based organizations have strengthened social harmony and development.
As the governor begins his second year, the council urged sustained transparency, justice, and stakeholder engagement while pledging the Muslim Ummah’s continued prayers and cooperation.
“Governor Okpebholo sees us as partners in progress and we stand ready to support his vision for a peaceful, prosperous Edo,” Igbinidu affirmed.
