Sapele, Delta – The Delta state police command has arrested a suspected gun runner at Jesse community, in Ethiope West local government area of the state.

The command spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright made this known in a statement Monday.

Edafe said the suspect was arrested through credible intelligence by the special squad based in Ughelli which was assigned by the commissioner of police CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.

According to him, the suspect 55-years-old Ufuoma Omene was taken to his residence where a search led to the recovery of one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, with revolver and thirteen rounds of ammunition.

"Upon search of the suspect’s residence a Locally Fabricated Ak-47Rifle with Revolver like Magazine,and Thirteen(13)rounds of 7.6mm ammunition were recovered. In addition to his involvements in series of crime in that area,he is also suspected to be a member of Eiye confraternity.", Edafe stated

The suspect is presently under investigation to arrest other members of his gang, while the Delta police commissioner assured Deltans that the people will continue to sleep with their two eyes closed as they provide the command with useful information.
