Abuja, FCT – The House of Representatives on Thursday demanded the immediate resumption and completion of the Armed Forces Nigeria Physical and Health School and Games Village in Esa-Oke, Osun State, a project abandoned since 2008 despite repeated budgetary allocations.
The resolution followed a motion by Hon. Oluwole Oke (Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency), adopted during plenary under Speaker Rep. Abbas Tajudeen.
“What was meant to sharpen our soldiers’ combat readiness has become a criminal hideout,” Oke warned, noting that the unfinished site now threatens local security in Osun and Ekiti border communities.
Modelled after the U.S. Army Physical Training School in South Carolina, the facility was designed to deliver world-class physical and mental conditioning for troops while creating jobs and engaging youth in the area.
The House directed Chief of Defence Staff to deploy troops to secure the site and kick-start preliminary work.
Accountant-General and Ministry of Finance to release all funds allocated in the 2025 budget.
2026 Budget to include full provisions for completion.
Committees on Defence and Legislative Compliance to probe why past allocations vanished and report in four weeks.
Failure to act, lawmakers warned, undermines national security and troop readiness at a time of rising threats. The motion passed unanimously.
