Umuahia, Abia – In a proactive move to bolster public safety as the holiday season approaches, the Abia State Police Command convened a high-level security meeting with community leaders and stakeholders on Tuesday.

The gathering, led by Commissioner of Police (CP) Danladi Isa, underscored the command's commitment to protecting critical infrastructure, including schools and places of worship, across the state.

The meeting follows CP Isa's recent directives issued during a security tour on November 22, 2025, aligning with broader instructions from the Inspector General of Police.

To enhance accountability, the command has rolled out "Routine Registers" in schools, ensuring consistent oversight by assigned officers.

Attendees included representatives from traditional rulers, community leaders, chief security officers of companies, tertiary institutions, schools, and market associations.

The session, held at the state police headquarters, featured discussions on collaborative crime prevention strategies.

In his keynote address, CP Isa stressed the importance of periodic engagements to gather real-time feedback on local security dynamics.

"You are our partners in the fight against crime," he told the stakeholders, urging them to share timely intelligence with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders.

He warned against harboring criminals and called for the revival of community watch groups to foster a safer environment.

The stakeholders responded positively, expressing gratitude for the initiative and vowing full cooperation.

This meeting comes amid national efforts to curb insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the Southeast region, where Abia State has seen relative stability but remains vigilant against potential threats during high-movement periods like Christmas and New Year.

The Abia Command's actions reflect a broader strategy to prevent incidents at vulnerable sites, building on recent successes in community policing, as residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities via official channels, reinforcing the "See Something, Say Something" ethos.
