By the indefatigable Law of Association, godson Asue Ighodalo will not only be a serial non-performer like his godfather Obaseki, he will also inherit the gene of his abysmal development failures.

Dateline. December 17, 2018, Obaseki launched a new Edo State Security Architecture driven by what he code named Operation Wabanzigan. Big gaseous grammar as usual!!!

A major highlight of the event was the setting up of an Edo Security Trust Fund with Asue Ighodalo as its chairman with a marching order to raise N10 billion for the fund through individual and corporate donations.

To start with, the government pledged a seed money of N2billion to the fund while Ighodalo donated N200million.

This is about a month after Alaghodaro Economic Summit was also organised by the state government with media fanfare.

So many Alaghodaro Economic Summits as well as security meetings have been held ever since.

But Asue Ighodalo is yet to tell us anything about the trust fund. Anyway, what has he got to report? Nothing but nonchalance and crass failure.

Yet, the same Ighodalo who is not faithful with little thing wants to be given a bigger, more serious job. Ýes, he is aspiring to be our governor of Edo State. Terrible.

Meanwhile, let us take a comparative trip to Lagos State. The trust fund is working there.

Background checks reveal that Lagos Security Trust Fund was established in 2007. Ever since, it has an active, comprehensive and working website that transparently documents the activities of the Fund.

If you selectively go to the Fund's website you will see the following information:

■ Fidelity Bank on 10th July, 2018 indicated its willingness to support the fund

■ On March 1, 2022 the managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) hosted the executive secretary of the Fund in his office where they discussed how the NPA and the executive secretary of the Fund can partner for mutual benefit.

■ Mr Jim Ovia, the founder/chairman of Zenith Bank Plc pledged the sum of N250 million in support of the Fund.

■ Dangote Cement Plc, some years ago, donated 35 security-branded cars to the Fund to enhance its services to the citizens.

■ On the 10thJanuary, 2024 the business mongul, Mr Femi Otedola, donated N1 billion to the Fund in his individual and corporate capacities.

■ Similarly, the construction giant, Julius Berger assists the Fund. On July 19th, 2024 the Fund received 5 vehicles from the company.

Also, there are detailed reports of how the Fund distributes its money to the different security agencies in Lagos State fighting crime and criminals. Hence, the state is the safest, most secure and sustainably peaceful in Nigeria today.
Unfortunately, 'Edo no be Lagos' according to the Obasekis.

In the case of Edo State, not much is heard about Edo State Security Trust Fund in the public space under the watch of Asue Ighodalo, also the chairman of Alaghodaro Economic summit Plc, since 2018.

Now, that he is a godson PDP governorship candidate in the forthcoming September 21, 2024 election he has woken up from slumber to remember that he has not been able to grow the Funď neither has their Alaghodaro under Obaseki done so.

However, as governor he had promised to resurrect and rebuild the dead Fund.

Hear him on the 24th July, 2024 in a fatuous campaign speech: "I will make Edo Security Trust Fund work"

Alas, like Obaseki, it is only when they are seeking votes they remember that they have a duty to be responsive and responsible to the suffering electorate in Edo State.

Therefore be wise. Listen. Vote for only Senator Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa, certainly not Asue Ighodalo/Osarodion Ogie with their deceptive promises.

Senator Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa will win the September 21 2024 election. Victor Hugo says:"Nobody can stop an idea which time has come."
