Sapele, Delta – In a routine inspection led by Mr. Collins Eneanya, Coordinator of the Sapele Zone, the Delta State Taskforce on Environment uncovered an alarming practice where some residents of Sapele were found to be channeling their septic tanks directly into the town's drainage system.

This hazardous practice not only violates environmental laws but also poses significant health risks to the community, increasing the potential for waterborne diseases and environmental pollution.

The Taskforce identified and promptly sealed two premises involved in this violation located at Jakpor Road and Adeola area of Sapele.

These actions were taken as part of the Taskforce’s ongoing efforts to enforce environmental regulations and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

The Chairman of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Olorogun Godspower Asiuwhu, in different fora had stressed the importance of maintaining public health and safety. He reiterated the commitment of the State Executive Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, to uphold the oath he took to protect the lives of Delta State citizens.

Olorogun Asiuwhu made it clear that such unwholesome practices would not be tolerated and warned that the Taskforce would continue to take strict actions against those violating environmental standards.

In addition to addressing the septic tank issue, the Taskforce extended its activities to Amukpe and Okirigwere markets in Sapele. During their visit, the team enforced cleanliness regulations and took steps to improve traffic flow around the market areas.

This visit is part of a broader initiative to promote a cleaner and more orderly environment for residents and traders alike.

Olorogun Asiuwhu assured the public that the Taskforce would remain vigilant and continue its operations across the state, focusing on areas where environmental infractions are prevalent. He also announced plans for increased public sensitization, aiming to educate residents on the importance of proper waste management and the dangers of environmental pollution.
