Edo LG chair promises support for vigilantes, tasks operatives on commitment

Orhionmwon, Edo – The he Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo state, Newman Ugiagbe has commended operatives of Edo State Security Network (ESSN) for their collaboration with Nigeria Police, to check crime and criminalities in the area.
Ugiagbe, gave the commendation during an interactive session with Benin-Abraka road sector command of the Network held at Evbarue Community, according to Roy Osariemen, Chief Press Secretary to the local government in a statement on Friday.
The council chairman said the network's synergy with the police has led to drastic reduction in crime rates and social vices in the area.
Ugiagbe assured the personnel to disregard false reports circulating about the disbandment of the network, emphasizing that their services are valued to sustain the peace across the locality.
The chairman, who promised to equip a police post with lighting when he made brief stop at Evbarue Police Station, suggested that ESSN operatives should operate within their jurisdiction which they already understand it terrain.
He appealed for their continued commitment to the security of the area with a promise that government would provide necessary logistics to ensure efficient and effective discharge of their duties.
Ambassador David Ehiarinmwian, Sector Commander of the ESSN Benin-Abraka Road Sector Command, expressed gratitude to Hon. Ugiagbe for his support. He seized the opportunity to request additional assistance in the form of operational vehicles, motorcycles, communication gadgets, and other essential resources.
The interactive session was attended by Unit Commanders from various communities within the sector, Hon. Bright Iyamu (member representing Orhionmwon South in the Edo State House of Assembly), Amb. Wesley Asoro, Hon. Monday Igbinigie, Dcn. Jonathan Okunbor, Hon. Blessed Edughean, and other dignitaries.
